Registration Opens for Town of Liberty Flag Football, Youth Contact Football and Cheerleading Programs

Residents and non-residents can now sign up for summer flag football, fall football and cheerleading teams.

LIBERTY, N.Y. (May 30, 2018) – With the warm weather here to stay, the Town of Liberty Parks and Recreation Department has continued its tradition of offering  summer flag football, fall football and cheerleading programs to residents and non-residents.

The flag football program, designed for boys and girls in grades 1st through 6th, is a great non-contact football option for the summer. This program teaches the fundamentals of the sport with an emphasis on fun and fair play. The program will be held on Tuesdays from July 3, 2018 through July 31, 2018 at the Town of Liberty High School practice football field from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The program is $10 for Liberty residents and $20 for non-residents.

Additionally, signup for the Liberty Warriors Fall 2018 season has begun. Children must be in grades 2nd through 6th while the fall 2018 school year season is taking place. Registration runs through July 19, 2018 and is on a first come first serve basis. Due to limited space, early registration is encouraged. Registration is $60 per child for Liberty residents and $70 per child for non-residents. Children will be provided with pads and helmet(s) that should be returned at the end of the season. The equipment fitting will be held on July 19, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and all players will be able to keep their jerseys. As an added bonus, all children that sign up for tackle football are able to be a part of the flag football program for free.

Registration for the Liberty Warriors Cheerleading Team has also started. Members of the cheerleading squad will learn creative cheers and basic routines throughout the season, all while  supporting the Warriors football team by providing excitement and energy on the field. Cheerleaders will receive a uniform, which must be returned at the end of the season. Registration is $40 per child for Liberty residents and $50 per child for non-residents. Pre-registration is required for the Warriors Cheerleading team.

“We are thrilled to have cheerleading, flag football and football starting up again,” said Town of Liberty Parks and Recreation Assistant Recreation Director James Guara. “These programs are great for children to learn the basics of these sports while having fun and we’re looking forward to a great 2018 season.”
