Town of Liberty Announces Job Opening for Summer Renaissance Project Supervisor Position

LIBERTY, N.Y. (May 3, 2018) – The Town of Liberty Parks and Recreations Department is currently seeking applicants for the Summer Renaissance Project Supervisor. The Summer Renaissance Project Supervisor position is in charge of overseeing and maintaining the Renaissance Areas, located on Main Street and North Main Street in the Village of Liberty.  The Parks and Recreation full time Park Supervisor will supervise the Summer Renaissance Project Supervisor.

Duties for the position include supervising and participating in the maintenance of the project areas as well as supervising Renaissance Interns. The Project Supervisor will oversee and perform activities such as planting, weeding, mulching, mowing and litter clean-up, and will be responsible for the proper care of maintenance equipment. The selected applicant will enforce rules and regulations related to the safe use of park facilities while providing instructions and safety guidelines to subordinates prior to their use of equipment. Furthermore, the Project Supervisor should professionally communicate with staff and patrons, provide public relations with area visitors and perform other duties as required by the department.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older with a valid NYS driver’s license. Additionally, applicants should have a knowledge of plant culture, identification and maintenance with one year or more of proven supervisory and management skills. An applicant must have the ability to work alone or in a group, while being self-motivated.

The position is seasonal, taking place from mid-May through August, for a total of 14 weeks. The position requires an approximate 35-hour work week.
