Regarding: New York State Measles Outbreak and Liberty Summer Day Camp

As summer camp quickly approaches, the Town of Liberty is aware of the ongoing measles outbreak in the surrounding area and have been in close contact with the Sullivan County Public Health Department to address the situation and adhere to all guidelines. Nothing is more important to us than providing a healthy environment for our residents and campers alike.

The Town of Liberty recommends vaccination of all individuals who will be working in or attending summer camps and will maintain current and accurate immunization records for all camp attendees and staff. We will be training all day camp staff on the signs and symptoms of measles and other vaccine preventable diseases (VPD).

Furthermore, all campers and staff should be up-to-date on their immunizations per the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice (ACIP) guidelines. If you are uncertain about vaccination records, immunity status, or believe you may be at a higher risk, we recommend you contact your healthcare provider to discuss.

If anyone should have any concerns or questions, please call the New York State Department of Health toll free Measles Information Line at (888) 364-4837.
