SnO&W Fun Run & Walk Returns on February 25th

Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance to host 3rd annual snowshoe event.

[Wurtsboro] – Come out and celebrate the beauty of winter in the Catskills at the 3rd annual SnO&W Snowshoe Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, February 25th at 10am at the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail entrance at 2 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. The trail journey is a gentle, approximately 2 mile level walk in and back out, although participants can complete as much or as little of the trail as they like.  Families are encouraged to attend together as well as local firefighters that are part of the Sullivan 180 Healthiest Fire Department Challenge.

“The SnO&W was created to showcase the beauty and fun of the trail in the midst of winter and dispel perceptions that it’s a seasonal resource. It was the first of what has grown to be of a year-long series of events that demonstrate the trail is for everyone,” says Freda Eisenberg, Planning Commissioner and Chair of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance.

Bring your own snowshoes or hiking boots. Snowshoes will be available on-site from Fortress Bikes free of charge, while supplies last, so participants can try this much-loved outdoor, winter sport. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome; but must remain on a leash.

The Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance grew out of the 2019 Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Feasibility Study and is a partnership of local government entities, non-profits, and volunteers which serve as the stewards for the trail.
