Temporary Closure of Town of Liberty Parks Due to COVID-19

Consistent with the decision made by the Sullivan County Legislature to close County Parks, the Town of Liberty is closing all Liberty parks to the public until further notice. The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. To help minimize the spread of COVID-19 and to comply with recommendations for social distancing, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close town parks. This action is effective at noon tomorrow, April 8th 2020. Parks, trail heads, restrooms and playgrounds will be barricaded or locked and posted with notification of closure. Local law enforcement has been informed of the planned closure and will be patrolling these spaces regularly and individuals may be ticketed for any violations.

The affected facilities include:

Hanofee Park

Walnut Mountain

Swan Lake Park

Rails to Trails

Lapolt Park

Liberty Skate Park

It is our duty to continue to serve the public. Town e-mails and phone messages are monitored daily. Our Town website and Facebook pages will continue to be updated as well. This closure will be re-evaluated weekly and extended as necessary. We appreciate the publics patience during this crisis.
