Town of Liberty is Awarded Golden Feather Grant from Sullivan Renaissance

$250,000 grant will help fund the development of the overall community.

LIBERTY, N.Y. (August 9, 2018) – The Town of Liberty was awarded the 2018 Sullivan Renaissance Municipal Partnership Award during the annual awards ceremony at Bethel Woods on Monday, August 6, 2018 where over $500,000 in grants and scholarships were given out.

The Awards Ceremony was the culmination of months of work on the part of municipalities, community organizations and volunteers to enhance gateways, public spaces and main streets.  Of significant note this year was the Municipal Partnership Program competition which originated from a challenge to towns and villages to join in the Renaissance by enhancing code enforcement, caring for public spaces, beautifying gateways and creating healthy communities.

Town of Liberty was the winner of the Municipality Partnership Award. Along with this award came the $250,000 Golden Feather Grant. The Town of Liberty has worked tirelessly to enhance the Town through beautifying the community, enforcing town codes, and creating a healthy and safe community. These funds will help further enhance those efforts and provide inspiration for Liberty and surrounding communities to raise the bar when it comes to municipality improvement.

“We are so appreciative that the Town of Liberty has been recognized by Sullivan Renaissance. We are always trying to improve our community and make our residents happier. This award proves that Liberty has the vision, ambition and know-how to compete as a great place to live, work and play in the Sullivan Catskills,” said Town of Liberty Supervisor Brian Rourke. “This grant will be put to great use and garner even more positive changes in our town. Liberty couldn’t be more appreciative of Sullivan Renaissance for encouraging our participation in the competition this year and for inspiring us to raise the bar in our community.  We will immediately consider how we can leverage this achievement to make even more positive changes within our Town.”
