Awarded Grants

The Town of Liberty consistently applies for grants to help better the community. Monies awarded to the Town of Liberty through grants help alleviate local taxpayers and provide financial relief. Please find below some of the key grants that the Town of Liberty has been awarded in recent years:

2022 Empire State Development – Restore NY Round 6 – Parksville Main Street Revitalization
$800,000 for renovations to 3 buildings on Main Street Parksville.

2022 Golden Feather Award – Sullivan Renaissance and Assemblywoman Aileen’s Gunther’s Office
$400,000 to create ADA compliant access to the O&W Rail Trail at the Fox Mountain Rd entrance in Parksville.

2022 Silver Feather Award – Sullivan Renaissance
$50,000 – For enhancements to Creekside Park with a focus on daylighting the box culvert.

FEMA Project 4480 – Covid 19 – Protective Measures
$20,643.27 – For installation of protective glass barriers in public offices and PPE.

2022 Technical Assistance Grant – Sullivan Renaissance – Town and Village
$5,000 – For engineering plans to daylight and stabilize the box culvert located in Creekside Park.

2022 Neighborhood Revitalization Grant – Sullivan Renaissance
$2,400 Construction of a Community Menorah for the Hamlet of Parksville.

2020,2021,2022 Municipal Partnership Grant – Sullivan Renaissance
$8,000 – A partnership between the Town and Village to engage our youth and help maintain and beautify our public spaces.

2018 – Dormitory Authority State of New York – State and Municipal Facilities Program – $100,000
Improvements to maintain the historical integrity and office functionality of the Keller Building (Town of Liberty Town Hall). Specifically, roof replacement..

2018 – County of Sullivan Youth Bureau – $6,500
The Town of Liberty Parks and Recreation Department will provide enrichment opportunities to children. The grant will allow children who would not typically attend events be exposed to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) programming as well sports clinics and outdoor physical activity.

2018 – Sullivan County Division of Planning, Community Development & Real Property – Removing of Unsafe Structures – $18,000 & $12,000
To assist with the tipping fees associated with the removal and cleanup of unsafe structures.

2018 – Sullivan Renaissance – Golden Feather Award – $250,000

The Golden Feather award was the result of a $15,000.00 matching grant from Sullivan Renaissance which focused on the code enforcement, beautification of, public spaces, and create healthy communities.  The Golden Feather Award will be used for capital projects in the Town of Liberty. This can include the acquisition of real property, site preparation, construction of a structure, or renovation of an existing structure or property.

2018 – Sullivan County Division of Planning, Community Development & Real Property – Sullivan Signs Award – $7,500
To go towards the purchase and installation of two (2) new “Welcome to Liberty” gateway signs.

2018 – Sullivan County Division of Planning, Community Development & Real Property – Business-Friendly Zoning and Permitting Program Award – $7,722

Upgrade the Town’s Code to E-code and consultant review of the Town’s zoning practices.

2018 – Sullivan County Division of Planning, Community Development & Real Property – Plans and Progress Award – $5,877

To design and print a new Town of Liberty brochure and to install fitness trail equipment at Hanofee Park.

2018 – Empire State Development Corporation – Restore NY Grant – $500,000
To assist the revitalization of Parksville, New York.

2018 – Sullivan Renaissance – Competitive Municipal Partnership Grant – $15,000
Monies to be used for enhancing code enforcement, beautifying public spaces, and creating healthy communities.

2018 – New York State Homes and Community Renewal – NY Main Street Technical Assistance Grant – $5,000
The Main Street Technical Assistance grant will provide $5,000.00 grants for feasibility studies for multiple properties located on Main Street in Parksville.

2017 – Dormitory Authority State of New York – State and Municipal Facilities Capital Program – $50,000
Improvements to Walnut Mountain Park, including new bathrooms and upgrades of bathrooms at the park.

2017 – New York State Office of Community Renewal – Community Development Block Grant program – $748,900
For Phase 8 of water system improvements in the White Sulphur Springs District. The grant will fund the replacement of 1,800 linear feet of existing asbestos cement pipes in the district’s aging water system.

2017 – Dormitory Authority State of New York – State and Municipal Facilities Capital Program – $100,000

Town Hall drainage improvements, repaving of parking lot and landscaping.

2017 – Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) – $75,000
For zombie and vacant properties remediation and prevention initiatives.

2017 – Sullivan County Plans & Progress Small Grants Program – $7,000
To install an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant Interpretive Trail. The new ADA Interpretive Trail will be installed at the Lake Street entrance of Walnut Mountain Park. The trail will be built in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and will have interpretive signage throughout the trail, which will point out different species of trees, plants, and animal habitats that are native to Sullivan County.

2017 – Dormitory Authority State of New York – State and Municipal Facilities Capital Program – $90,000
Exterior painting of Town Hall, carpeting of town offices, upgrade to bathroom plumbing, flooring, interior painting, updating and upgrading of offices and the Town of Liberty courtroom.

2016 – New York State Office of Community Renewal – Community Development Block Grant program – $745,299
